The Source of Love is the True Guru
In this universe, whether it be any path, knowledge, action, yoga, tantra, or the path of devotion, without supreme love, the attainment of God feels like a flower in the sky (it seems unreal). Even though the saint like Mahatma Kabir knows all this, he expresses his inner feeling and gives this message to humanity:
Reading books, the world dies, the learned do not go.
The one who reads the essence of love becomes learned.
Many have read great scriptures, yet how many have truly become wise? Those who have read the two-and-a-half letters of 'love', and understood its meaning, have become scholars.
We must read that "two-and-a-half letters of love", not just read but also meditate upon it, and after meditation, we must dwell within our inner selves, completely merging into that state. Just as Guru Maharaj taught the Pandavas, Kauravas, and the first lesson of truth and righteousness to memorize, everyone memorized it like parrots and presented it to the Guru. But Yudhishthira could not present it like the others; for him, the truth had to be filled within, and ultimately, success was found in dwelling within. In the same way, we must merge that "two-and-a-half letters of love" within ourselves. That is why a devoted guru like Sahajo Bai suggests this:
Love, love, everyone says, but no one knows love.
Without love, even eight hours pass by without realization.
The essence—everyone speaks of love, but no one knows love. Those who are absorbed in it for eight watches (hours) are the ones who know love. God is made of love. The individual soul is a part of God. The quality of the part naturally becomes visible in the whole.
Love is the form of Hari; thus, Hari is also the essence of love.
Though they seem two, they are one, just as the sun and its heat.
Contemplate the essence of love in the words of the supreme capable Guru Maharaj. "If devotion is one object, love is another. Devotion is the practice, while love is the attainment. Those who understand devotion to be love are mistaken. Where knowledge, devotion, and yoga come to an end, there begins the rise of love. In love, there is no action, no thought, only the remembrance of the beloved, a deep desire to meet. Even a drop of the essence of love, when it descends from the throat, intoxicates. This is the soma of the Vedas; in love, ego diminishes, intellect remains below, thought and discrimination become tranquil. In love, there is attraction and joy. Love is the ocean of bliss."
Where the bird of the heart resides, no other bird remains.
Where the feeling of love shines, nothing else remains.
Love is a canvas adorned by nature, and the imaginations of lovers have shaped it— a philosopher like Voltaire.
Khalil Gibran wrote—‘When love beckons to you, follow it, though its ways are hard and steep. And when its wings enfold you, yield to it, though the sword hidden among its pinions may wound you. And when it speaks to you, believe in it, though its voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you, so shall it crucify you. Even as it is for your growth, so is it for your pruning. Even as it ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall it descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn, love gathers you unto itself. It threshes you to make you naked. It sifts you to free you from your husks. It grinds you to whiteness. It kneads you until you are pliant; and then it assigns you to its sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God’s sacred feast. All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge, become a fragment of Life’s heart. But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, lest love destroy your house. If you would be a servant in love’s house, then you should be prepared to be a servant of love, for love is not a possession but a state of being.’
The heart of the Chaatak bird never sees the flaws in the clouds it loves.
Tulsidas Ji says there is no measure to the ocean of love.
In the same way, the lover sees only virtues in the flaws of the beloved because in that profound love, they become immersed, always seeing the beloved. The condition of a lover like Ras Khan is expressed by them:
What can I say to anyone? Ras Khan the poet says, whatever they ask me to bear, I bear it; when I have loved, where are the rules? Then dance as you please.
Desire is there, but why should I speak? If I could see the beloved, it would be good, let us walk as Gopal did, then we all would become servants of Krishna together.
In this way, the fire of love in the heart of a devotee can be extinguished by the vision of Rama's feet; that is why he declared his humility in this way:
I declare my humility, all bow down, without seeing the feet of Raghunath, the fire in my heart does not go out.
Still, there is one intense desire in the heart of the devotee—
“Only one wish is here in my mind, to go in the morning and attain the Lord.” This is the heartfelt cry of a devotee, wherever in life that beloved (lover) has spread.
A philosopher wrote—who are we in reality? What is our true nature? This experience comes to man like a subtle glimpse. What do we do in our free time? How does our inclination manifest in solitude? Just as those who eat find satisfaction, nourishment, and relief from hunger with every morsel, so does man, having taken refuge in God, meditate on Him. In every moment of meditation, he experiences love for God, the essence of his Lord, and detachment from all worldly matters. In truth, this mind is extremely restless, fickle, swift, powerful, and obstinate; controlling it is very difficult, but it can be brought under control through detachment and practice. It is not possible to control the senses by controlling the mind, but we can control the senses by controlling the mind. The uneducated gopis residing in that "Braj" raise the flag of love, surrendering their minds to Krishna, and through that, they make the Supreme Brahman dance on a small pot filled with buttermilk. Surrender is only possible through the grace of the Guru; the disciple's effort does not suffice. "Only the grace of the Guru" is the only support.
In the words of the supreme Bhagavata Pandit Ji Maharaj, only the vision of the Guru's blessing is visible; that is why he wrote—“Before the vast tree, the seed must remain in the womb of Mother Earth for some days; that is the blessing given. And it attains that vastness. Therefore, you should hide and sit at the feet of anyone; one day they will bless you and lift you up. No one rises by lifting themselves up.”
A poet's literature inspires this:
Let me die if I wish to, if I want to die,
For when mixed with the earth, the garden blooms.
In the contemplation of Karalaayi—“Love unexpressed is sacred.” The unexpressed love is indeed sacred. Those who have any pain in their hearts do not wander about shouting anywhere; they do not shout in the streets, they wander about. Where is the vision of such lovers who do not utter the sweet sound of "Oh" filled with the essence of love?
See the signal received through the words of Dadaji Maharaj—
Inside, there is no pain; outside, they shout.
What can Dada do, why does the vision of the Lord not come?
The lamp remains still and motionless inside the house; when it comes outside, its light diminishes or extinguishes. In reality, pure love is like a lamp. That is why it is said that love is mute. A Western philosopher says—Love’s tongue is in the eyes. The meaning is that the tongue of love is in the eyes; here, the eyes speak, not the tongue. Those who have seen the beloved do not say anything; they speak only of Him, for they have no vision of Him.
Kabir Sahib's Sakhi declares—
Those who see do not speak; those who speak do not see.
Those who hear cannot express it; for where are the eyes, the ears for the tongue?
Truly, that love is the most secret. Such love is called para bhakti, which comes last of all. The ultimate experience of love is the Supreme Soul. Love, keep loving, with your children, with your wife, with your family, with all your loved ones, with people, with animals, with trees, with mountains—spread that love everywhere. Just as the field of this love grows, so does the vision of the Supreme Soul begin to manifest in them. The supreme capable Guru Maharaj further clarifies—God desires love; the vein of love lies dormant in man. The Supreme Soul says, love me, love everyone, love yourself, but we have become our own enemies... trapped in the web of women, wealth, progeny, glory, family, and clans, why have they ensnared man? So that he may learn to love, the source of love must break and flow in the form of a stream of love, then it must be turned to the other side—that’s it, the work is complete. The horse, running fiercely southward, when it sees the eye, begins to run northward with that same speed... For those who have no love for the beings in this creation, who have no love for the gifts bestowed by God, for such hard-hearted people, the vision of God is impossible even after a hundred lifetimes.
In truth, the Guru is the source of that love; no matter how hard-hearted one may be, when they go to such capable ones, humility, simplicity, and naturalness are bestowed. Were there not those like Angulimala, Valmiki? They transformed in just a moment of proximity. The Guru is the ocean of profound love, continually sharing love; they are the alchemists of love.
Love is the ocean, love is the alchemy, love is the treasure of non-duality.
Victory over death, the fear of death is removed; I bow to Sri Satyadev.
